Crane truck tips over on Pineda Causeway overpass, worker injured

A crane truck tipped over on the Pineda Causeway near Interstate 95 Tuesday morning, injuring one person and blocking traffic for a couple hours, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A worker standing on the back of the truck as it fell over was transported to Viera Hospital. The injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

The accident was reported around 10 a.m. Tuesday on the east side of the Pineda Causeway. The crane truck was being used to remove concrete slabs from the overpass.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the crane attempted to rotate with one of the slabs when it tipped over toward the right. The truck overturned on the right side, injuring the worker.

Damage to the overpass is still being assessed by crews.

Attorney William E Johnson, representing the injured construction worker who sustained serious injuries as a result of a crane tip-over accident, filed suit in Palm Beach County against Beyel Brothers Crane, Inc. The case was successfully resolved in an undisclosed confidential settlement.
